A former Kaduna State Governor, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, has countered the claims by immediate-past President Goodluck Jonathan that the entire North was against his re-election bid in 2015.
Jonathan had made the claim in his new book, “My Transition Hours”, which was launched in Abuja on Tuesday to mark his 61st birthday.
Musa, who said he was not speaking for the North, said he supported Jonathan in 2015, even when he knew the president was not competent enough to lead the country.
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) chieftain said the party openly endorsed Jonathan in Akwa Ibom State in 2015, wondering where the ex-president got his facts from.
He added that he wanted Jonathan to defeat his closest challenger, Muhammadu Buhari, whom he said represented “fascism” alongside his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I don’t represent the North. I can’t comment on this. He (Jonathan) should know who was against him. I was not against him.
“In fact, in 2015, we favoured him. We preferred him to Buhari because we regarded Buhari and his APC as fascists. Even though Jonathan is equally incompetent, we felt the PDP was safer,” Sunday Punch quoted Musa as saying.
