Renowned Nigerian-American singer and rapper, Jidenna, has publicly acknowledged his past mistakes, revealing that he manipulated women and, in his own words, “robbed some women of their baby-making years.” The ‘Classic Man’ artist made this candid admission during the first episode of the “What’s Underneath: Masculinity” podcast.
Jidenna disclosed that despite his unfair treatment of those women, they played a pivotal role in shaping and building him. He shared, “I robbed some women of their baby-making years. Dragging them along, they built me up. Look at me now and look at them.” The artist admitted to using his relationships as a source of inspiration for his artwork.
Jidenna delved into the regrettable actions of his past, acknowledging the manipulation and unfair treatment he imposed on women. He confessed, “I remember different quotes I said like just really manipulated things to say like, ‘No one is going to love you the way I do.’ Oh my God! I’m ashamed of it.”
Expressing remorse for his past behavior, Jidenna emphasized the personal growth and transformation he has undergone. He now views those experiences with a sense of shame and regret, particularly when witnessing similar manipulative behavior from other men.
In further revelation, the artist pledged to approach his future relationships differently, vowing, “The next relationship that I would get in, I will work as hard at love as I worked in my career.“
