The Former Governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shema has faulted claims by the Aminu Masari-led government that his administration defaulted in the payment of two months of workers’ salaries.
“We did not only paid all salaries but owed no debt, either to individuals or companies before we left office. The records are there. This, certainly cannot be the gift envisaged for the 100 days in office. This, obviously is a lie from the pit of hell,” Shema said through his media team.
According to the media team, the clarification had become necessary in the light of a letter reportedly forwarded to the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Alhaji Sabiu by the state government claiming that the government needed bail-out from the Central Bank of Nigeria to off-set outstanding salary debts owned by the Shema administration.
