Evicted Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) All Stars housemate, Uriel Oputa, has bravely opened up about a challenging health condition she has been battling for four years, which might affect her ability to conceive.
In an exclusive interview with media personality Hero Daniels, Uriel candidly shared that she has been diagnosed with amenorrhea, a condition characterized by the absence of menstruation from puberty to menopause. This revelation sheds light on the hurdles she has faced in her journey to motherhood.
During the interview, Uriel recounted the distressing period in her life when she realized she hadn’t had her period for four years. Seeking medical assistance, she was informed by doctors in the United Kingdom that there was a significant likelihood she might never be able to bear children. This news struck a heavy blow, particularly since her niece was just two years old at the time.
Uriel expressed the emotional turmoil she went through during that phase, describing her descent into depression. The weight of the prognosis was so profound that she found herself avoiding reminders of motherhood, such as seeing kids on television or passing by schools and parks.
In her own words, Uriel stated, “I went into a state of depression. I was so depressed that I couldn’t watch kids on TV. I hated going past schools or parks because I would be reminded constantly that I may not be able to be a mother.”
Revealing her coping mechanism, Uriel shared how she formed a special bond with her niece, treating her as her own child. Their close relationship developed as Uriel embraced the role of a second mother in her niece’s life, fostering a connection that endures to this day.
