Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde has dispelled any links with Philippe Coutinho, saying he prefers his players to the Liverpool star, who he described as a “great player”.
As the transfer window opened earlier this week, speculations have restarted in England and Spain over the 25-year-old Brazilian’s future.
Barcelona reportedly had three bids of £100 million rejected in August 2016 and talk has recently been circulated about a €150 million (£134 million; $180 million) deal this January.
However, Valverde appears not willing to allow the rumours distract his team, which is unbeaten in all competitions this season.
“I have nothing to say on the subject of Coutinho, he isn’t one of our players,” said Valverde.
“He is at another team and we respect the fact that he is at another team. He is a great player and we don’ t know what is going to happen in the future.
“However, I much prefer the players that I currently have in my team and they are the ones who concern me.”
