Football is an emotional sport and it isn’t uncommon to see these emotions boil over especially from fans who sometimes say or do things that they wouldn’t on a normal day.
It was the same after Loris Karius had a nightmare of a game, making two errors that more or less cost Liverpool the game.
It was bad enough that Mohamed Salah had to be taken off due to injury, things only got worse as Karius made a couple of clangers which led to Madrid goals.
Fans were enraged on Twitter and this led to some very unsavoury words being said including threats against Karius’ family and hopes that the German dies of a horrible disease.
Please, please, please, please get aggressive terminal cancer you pathetic excuse for a human being @LorisKarius said one follower
Karius is the human equivalent of cancer said another.
Some people came out against these tweets, berating the Liverpool fanbase for posting such abhorrent material.
German great and former Bayern Munich Goalkeeper Oliver Kahn feels that Karius’ performance could potentially end his career. Speaking after the game, he said; “I’m lost for words,
“I can’t remember having experienced something more brutal from a goalkeeping point of view than in this final.
“An evening like this can destroy a career.”
Remains to be seen whether it actually does.
