The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has said that the performance of the crowd at the re-election campaign of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Thursday is a vote of confidence passed on him (Atiku).
Atiku said this in a tweet on Friday.
Makinde’s campaign rally at the Mapo Hall, Ibadan, was attended by the four other G-5 governors, including Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia.
While addressing the crowd, Wike urged them to vote for PDP candidates at all levels but omitted the presidency.
“Vote for Seyi, vote for PDP senators, vote for the House of Reps (candidates), the other one (president), Seyi will come to you,” he said.
As Wike pressed home his point that Makinde would tell the PDP supporters who to vote for in the presidential election, he was heckled with chants of “Atiku, Atiku”.
Reacting to the crowd’s performance, Atiku expressed gratitude to them for backing him.
“Oyo State, I heard you loud and clear yesterday. I take it warmly as a vote of confidence in me and our great party, @OfficialPDPNig.
“You proved that my love for the Pace-Setter State over the years is not in vain,” he said.
“My promise to you is this: we shall work closely together in the mission to Recover Nigeria,” he added.
