2 Min Read

Since the Nigerian artist, Slimcase became the rave of the moment in the Nigerian Music scene, there have been rumors that he must be a perpetual smoker, drunk, and a drug addict.

However, the “codeine diet” crooner, whose original name is Oluwafemi Oladapo Oko-Eko, has revealed that he does not consume any of the substances.

The former hypeman also claims he has been in the industry for more than a decade and he is now the first hypeman-turned musician in Nigeria.

While having a chat with Showtime about his recently released single, Azaman, which featured the likes of 2Baba, DJ Neptune, Perruzzi, and Larry Gaaga, Slimcase expressed his opinion about the idea of taking alcohol.

He stated, “I don’t smoke, drink alcohol or do drugs, I am only a good actor. Taking alcohol is not a sin, but drinking to stupor is a sin.”

Slimcase further reacted to claims that he has cannot be referred to as an A list musician yet in the country.

He said, “I am not a musician, I am an industry hype man with music in his hands; the first of its kind. The first street artiste Wizkid featured and that’s my pride, my Grammy. I’m an entertainer who can entertain you even without music. I am the first industry hype man with blown songs”.

Slimcase later narrated his previous struggles in a bid to be recognized in the industry, over the last ten years.  He stated that he almost gave up his entire entertainment career at a point as he did not notice any growth then.

“Sure, I was tempted to quit every day. Everybody in the music industry once had that feeling of quitting but passion for the art has been the drive,” he said.
