Popular Nollywood actress, Nse Ikpe-Etim has disclosed that she could never have kids because she does not have a womb.
The 44-year-old disclosed this in an event tagged “Conversation with Nse” ahead of the release of the movie “Heaven’s Hell”, which she featured in.
She said that her womb was removed to enable her live a normal life.
Ikpe-Etim said she was diagnosed with Adenomyosis three years ago and the recommended treatment was to have her womb removed.
Adenomyosis is a condition in which endometrial tissue exists within and grows into the uterine wall.
According to Web MD, adenomyosis is considered a benign (not life-threatening) condition, but the frequent pain and heavy bleeding associated with it can have a negative impact on a woman’s quality of life.
In an emotional moment, she said, “I was told I couldn’t have kids.
“And so, I had to have a hysterectomy (uterus removal) to make me have a life again and to stop going through what I was going through.
“And I’m literarily telling women and men, it really doesn’t matter if you can’t bear children.
“What really matters is what you would do for the world, for the universe. Tears dropped and then my husband squeezed my hand. It was reassuring there was someone there and it was telling me that this is reality, my reality.”
