“I came to Nigeria twice when Buhari was president” – Reno Omokri mocks Obidients

Omokri

A former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has said he was in Nigeria twice during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said this amid taunts from supporters of the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who are popularly known as Obidients.

After Omokri, who is based abroad, publicised his meeting with National Security Adviser (NSA), AIG Nuhu Ribadu (rtd) in Abuja, many Obidients mocked him, querying why he did not visit Nigeria throughout the eight-year administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Taking to Twitter, Omokri said, “I am here in Nigeria. Dear Obidients, come and get me!”

Reacting, a Twitter user @Gemoh231 asked, “Why didn’t you come when Buhari was president?” and added a laughing emoji.

In response, Omokri said he was in Nigeria twice during the Buhari administration.

“The first time was to open an orphanage God helped me build, which was broadcast on television. The second time was to preach as a guest minister at Holyhill Church, which was advertised long before I arrived, and then broadcast on television. I preached at two services.

“I thought you, my beloved Obidients, said I could not visit Nigeria. Now I have come, you guys have moved the goalpost to ‘I could not come under Buhari’.

“In fact, I have been moving about without security in Nigeria. Obidients have seen me at various locations, and they ask my permission to take a photo with me, and I always lovingly oblige them.”

In apparent reference to an incident involving in London, Omokri said, “I was not detained at Heathrow Airport, nor was I arrested at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport.

“My name is not mentioned in Pandora Paper, and I did not take $5 million belonging to the government to deposit in a bank I have a majority interest in. I do not obey IPOB’s sit-ar-home, and I do not incite religious war in phone calls to influential clerics. My hands are clean.”
