Despite the inherent challenges posed by sickle cell anemia, Adekunle Gold expressed gratitude for effectively managing the illness. This resilience has enabled him to passionately pursue his career in music, performing on global stages without succumbing to its effects.

He shared, “I want to say you can do it. If I can do it, you can do it too. I grew up with sickle cell. I was born with sickle cell. All my life, I fought with it. But I am thankful I was able to manage it. I’m everywhere, doing shows, I don’t fall sick. I am thankful. So this is reaching out to everybody going through, having to deal with the crisis, you can do it. It should never stop you. Look at me, I am a superstar right now.“
