“I Am Done” – Miss Universe Runner-Up Chidimma Adetshina Announces Retirement from Pageantry

1 Min Read

Chidimma Adetshina, the first runner-up at the 2024 Miss Universe competition and crowned Miss Universe Africa and Oceania, has revealed she is stepping away from pageantry for good.

During an exclusive interview with Silverbird TV, the Nigerian-South African beauty queen shared the reasons behind her decision, describing the pageant world as a deeply challenging and traumatic experience.

Reflecting on her journey, Adetshina explained that while her achievements were significant, the experience left her emotionally drained.

“Finishing in the top 2 [at the Miss Universe competition] is still a shocker for me… Honestly, I am done. Pageantry was a real traumatic experience for me,” she shared. “People still don’t understand how I felt. There were times when I almost quit during the Miss Universe contest. I’m really done with pageantry.”

Adetshina also expressed her desire to focus on personal growth, emphasizing her plans to further her education and explore her identity outside the world of pageantry.

“I want to focus on myself and establish who I am. And forward my education as well,” she said.
