A car driver, Felix Edore, has committed suicide in Delta State after discovering that his wife of 16 years was cheating on him.

The father of six reportedly ingested Sniper in the Sapele area of the state on Friday.

Neighbours said Edore recently bought a new car for his taxi business, which sees him shuttle Abraka and Eku communities.

It was inside this car that he ingested the poisonous substance.

Passersby were said to have rushed him to a private clinic in the Amukpe area of Sapele, where medical personnel battled to save his life, but he gave up the ghost on Saturday.

However, neighbours, who expressed surprise at the incident, said Edore showed no signs of being suicidal.

“He came home that evening and was as usual very lively. He brought his car and was complaining about the radiator. It was when he left and came back that we learnt he had drank Sniper. I think he must have taken the insecticide inside the car,” a neighbour, who craved anonymity, told The Nation.

His family members have since buried the deceased at his village of Kpokpogiri.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onowakpoyeya, said that the incident was not reported.
