The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a yet-to-be-identified husband over the alleged killing of his wife in the Olota area of Alimosho Local Government Area.
The man was said to have returned to work last Thursday and picked a fight with his wife for failing to prepare his meal.
It was learnt that the quarrel started as an argument before degenerating into fisticuffs.
The suspect reportedly beat his wife to a pulp and hit her head with a heavy object.
An eyewitness who craved anonymity said that the man initially left the house after the fight before neighbours drew his attention that his wife was convulsing.
The husband and neighbours were said to have made an attempt to rush the victim to a nearby hospital but she died on the way.
The Punch quoted an unnamed police source in Meiran Police Station as saying that the suspect was arrested after his brother-in-law reported the incident at the station.
“It was the brother of the deceased who came to report the matter. He said the husband killed his sister.
“However, nobody has come forward to tell us that it was her husband who killed her. We have arrested the husband. The matter has already been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti,” the source said.
However, the source said that there was no indication that the man killed his wife as neighbours declined to give viable information during interrogation.
