Hundreds of members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria marched yesterday in Kano to mark the birth of Prophet Muhammad and the killing of some Shi’ites by soldiers almost two weeks ago.
The procession was led by Abdulhamid Bello, who insisted that justie must beserved.
Bello read a statement saying the marchers mourn the killings and the detention of their leader, Ibraheem Zakzaky, who started Nigeria’s Shiite movement 37 years ago.
Recently hundreds of Shi’ites members were killed by soldiers following a clash which occurred during a procession in Zaria.
The sect’s leader, Zakzaky was initially taken into custody by the army before he was transferred to the Nigerian police.
Shia Muslims in India and other countries held a protest and candle lighting to condemn his unlawful detention and the killing of Shias.
Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz has reportedly commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the killing of members of the sect describing it as a fight against terrorism,
