The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, has narrated how he was harassed by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), noting that every decent Nigerian should be worried about the activities of the squad.
He disclosed this Friday while addressing #EndSARS protesters that stormed the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
According to the deputy governor, he was stopped by SARS operatives around Amumo-Odofin local government area in 2016.
Hamzat stated that the armed operatives were in a commercial bus painted in the yellow-and-black colours of Lagos commercial vehicles.
“They were not in uniform; they had guns.
“They just double-crossed us and told us to park.
“If they were police in uniform, I would not be scared but they were not even in uniform and they rushed us,” he stated in a video shared by Chief Press Secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Mr. Gboyega Akosile.
