Months after former President Olusegun Obasanjo warned against alleged “Islamisation” and Fulanisation” agenda, the controversial comment has continued to generate strong reactions.
The latest reaction is coming from Nigerian envoy to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Alhaji Hassan Ardo, who accused Obasanjo of laying the foundation for the supposed agenda.
In a chat with Daily Sun, Ardo said that Obasanjo was not in a position to complain about “Islamisation” since the country joined the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) and implementation of Sharia law in some parts of the country started under his administration.
He said that Obasanjo and not President Muhammadu Buhari should be blamed if there was anything like “Islamisation” agenda.
The ambassador said, “I read the statements by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to the effect that President Muhammadu Buhari has a Fulanisation and Islamisation agenda and I laughed.
“Have we forgotten so soon that it was during his time as the president of this country that we joined the OIC?”
