How I’ll Turn Nigeria Into a Marijuana Exporting Nation- Presidential Aspirant Sowore

2 Min Read

Omoyele Sowore who is the head of Sahara reporters and a Presidential aspirant for the 2019 elections has revealed how he’d use marijuana to help out the Nigerian economy.

Marijuana is still a banned substance within the country even though a lot of people consume it in varying quantities.

Sowore, who was speaking at a forum said “Nigeria should start taking advantage of their homegrown marijuana”.

Marijuana has been legalized in some states in the United States of America and according to Forbes, California rakes in a mind-boggling $2.75 billion in sales. This is followed by Oregon who made $500 million in recreational sales and another $275 million in medical and then Washington with $975 million through recreational, plus $61 million from medical sales.

Sowore also noted that the NDLEA should take note of this as it would become a reality if he becomes president.

“We have to start taking care of our weed [Igbo] Some of the best weed in the world are grown in Ekiti state, and people are making billions out of that particular product, that particular plant that is very potent in Nigeria.

Sowore added: “We should be focusing on it. NDLEA should get the notice in advance that Nigeria will be exporting weed to cure cancer in other parts of the world instead of chasing after people who are growing weed, whereas they’re not chasing after our politicians who are taking cocaine in their houses” he said
