Authorities of the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED) have explained the circumstances surrounding the killing of a graduate of the institution, Sadiq Saka, by cultists.
While distancing itself from the incident, the school said the victim was killed 200 metres outside the school gate.
The Punch reported that Saka was shot dead by suspected cultists in what appeared a supremacy tussle between the Aye and Eiye confraternities last Sunday.
Saka’s assailants were said to have given him a hot chase before shooting him and then inflicting machete wounds on him after catching up with him.
But in a Friday statement by its Public Relations Officer, Adeyinka Osinaiwo, the school said: “Sadiq Saka was an Ex – AOCOEDIAN . He graduated in 2015 / 2016 academic session . He was never at anytime a student at the Ekiti State University (EKSU ) in affiliation with AOCOED.
“For the purpose of clarity , the crime scene location was after the Ultimate Hotel , at a spot where a local gin vendor operates her wares. In approximation , the incident occurred about 200 metres away from the college ’ s exit gate. ”
Five suspects , identified simply as Daniel, 36; Richard, 18; Jamiu, 30; Remix, 27; and Adekunle, 20, have been arrested by the Ijanikin Police Division in connection with the murder.
