General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma has revealed that the inception of Boko Haram insurgency can be traced to bad governance.
General Danjuma said Boko Haram was caused by lack of will of the government
General Danjuma revealed this at the 3rd annual Chief Ogiri Okoh memorial lecture which was organised by the Idoma National Forum.
Danjuma who is the head of the presidential committee on north east initiatives gave a lecture titled: ‘Good Governance for Sustainable Development in Nigeria.’
Danjuma noted that the destruction caused by Boko Harm insurgency and the many years the group has terrorised the country is traceable to bad governance and that “intelligence failures, lack of political will, absence of state presence in local areas, initial abysmal performance by the security forces, loss of territory to irregular forces, which we suffered at the height of the insurgency, were manifestations of bad governance and state failure.”
