2 Min Read

The Lagos State House of Assembly for has issued a public summons to Mr Akinwummi Ambode, former governor of Lagos State.

The summons has demanded that the former governor should appear before the House 1pm on Wednesday on the note of five offences listed against him, which includes unauthorized discounting of promissory note and the purchase of 820 buses without proper authorization.

Recall that the Herald reported that the Lagos State House had invited Ambode to appear before it, alongside some other commissioners, which he declined to honor.

The House resolved to issue a second invitation which would be followed by a warrant of arrest against the former governor.

The House has therefore issued its second invitation to Ambode, embedded in an advert placed on various news publication platforms.

The fresh notice reads;

“The Lagos State House of Assembly, pursuant to Section 129 (1)(c) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) hereby summons His Excellency, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, the former Governor of Lagos State (May, 2015 – May, 2019) to appear before the Committee of the House on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at the Lateef Jakande Auditorium, Assembly Complex, Alausa, Ikeja by 1 pm.”
