Hosts Wikki Tourists Football Club on Wednesday in Bauchi drew 1-1 with Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi in the ongoing 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The hosts scored 20 minutes into the second half of the match played at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium through Godwin Obaje’s penalty kick.
Lobi Stars equalised six minutes later through Sunday Alimi.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that play on the stadium’s pitch was difficult for both teams, following an early morning rain which lasted for seven hours.
Lobi Stars’ Technical Adviser, Godwin Uwua, later told NAN the result was not “a big deal’’ for him.
“We equally played a draw during our home match with them.
“But, generally, there is still hope for my team in the league, especially with the return of Giwa FC of Jos to the league.
“Now, we are left with three home and one away matches to play.
“However, I am especially very happy with the officiating aspect of this game, though it was a tough encounter because Wikki are not a team to toy with,” he said.
On his part, Abdu Maikaba, Wikki Tourists’ Technical Adviser, could not be reached for comments after the match because he left the venue of the encounter in a hurry.
NAN reports that this could be due to the tension created by Wikki Tourists’ supporters and fans who were not happy with the match’s result.
