A cleric, Solomon Ajao said he has been rendered homeless alongside his family after hoodlums set fire to his home and church located in the Fagba area of Lagos.
An inter-ethnic clash between Yoruba and Hausa youths in the area which began on Monday left many houses torched, including Ajao’s church and home which were close to the epicentre of the crisis.
It was gathered that some thugs claiming to be EndSARS protesters mounted a roadblock in the area and began to extort motorists.
They sighted a truck conveying cattle and demanded to be given a cow before the truck could be granted passage.
The thugs then set fire to the truck when the owners refused to accede to their request.
The owners of the truck then mobilised and launched a reprisal on the arsonists, causing mayhem.
This led to the burning of many buildings, including houses, church, shops, a bank and a filling station.

Ajao’s home and church were among the properties destroyed.
“I went for a prayer at Ifo early Monday, leaving my wife and children at home. I was at the prayer ground around 8am when I got a call that Fagba was boiling. Some of my church members relocated my family to their house because our church was at the centre of the violent spot.
“They broke into my premises through the gate and burnt down the church and our home, including a car I bought recently. I just returned from the prayer ground today (Saturday) and saw that everything was gone. My family and I have been displaced,” Ajao said.
