Armed hoodlums have shot dead a mobile policeman in Delta State and carted away his rifle.
It was learnt that the incident occurred Friday afternoon along the popular Jakpa Road.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Delta State Police Command, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the incident but noted that the details of the deceased have yet to be established.
The hoodlums raiding in a vehicle reportedly accosted the policeman who was detailed to a yet-to-be identified man.
The man reportedly stopped by a shop along the road to purchase some items.
However, as the man was making the purchases, the gunmen drove close and shot the policeman many times.
They also got even closer to ensure he was dead before picking up his rifle and zooming off with it.

Friday’s incident is the sixth involving a policeman being killed and his rifle stolen by armed hoodlums in Delta State.
In one of the previous incidents that occurred on October 10, during the #EndSARS protests, a mobile policeman was shot dead by suspected armed robbers around a shopping mall in Osubi area, Okpe local government area.
The policeman, who was on escort duty from Kebbi State, had his rifle whisked away.
A day before, a policeman and a civilian were shot dead at a police checkpoint at the Eku portion of the Eku-Abraka- Agbor road.
The policeman;s killers also disappeared with his rifle after the sad incident.
