The door-to-door campaign of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in Ilorin yesterday was disrupted when some hoodlums attacked his convoy, shooting four persons in the process.
It was gathered that the incident occurred in Isale Aluko area of the metropolis.
Two of the injured persons were identified as one Ahmadu and an elderly man called Baba Tunde.
A resident, who gave his name only as Sodiq, said, “The vice president visited some communities in Ilorin today (Thursday). Around 4pm, he arrived at Isale Aluko. He walked from Ita Ogunbo Junction to Isale Aluko with party supporters heading for Mustapha Compound.
“Suddenly, we heard two loud sounds in quick succession. Bullets hit four persons in the legs, including a girl and an elderly man called Baba Tunde. We don’t know who fired the shots yet.
“Isale Aluko and the entire Alanamu Ward are competing grounds for the APC and the PDP. We want adequate security on Saturday so that there won’t be any breach of the peace,” he added.
The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi, also confirmed the incident.
