Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji, the lawmaker representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 01 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, on Friday, presented 1,500 free JAMB forms to indigent students within the constituency.

The move is part of the lawmaker’s drive to ensure Ifako-Ijaiye becomes the most educated local government in Nigeria by 2037.

Presenting the JAMB slips to the students at the Fagba Junior Grammar School (Complex), Hon. Adewale Temitope, who doubles as the House Committee Chairman on Transportation, said he remains committed to seeing youths of his constituency get educated.

He said, “The goal of the ATA-EI is to make sure our children are educated. An educated mind is a liberated mind. That is why we have made education one of the pillars of my administration.

“By 2037, Ifako-Ijaiye will be the most educated local government in Nigeria.”

Hon. Adewale Temitope also promised scholarships for top 50 students who gain admission into tertiary institutions from the 1,500 beneficiaries of the free JAMB forms.

He also added that two outstanding students from the 1,500 beneficiaries who excel in their various disciplines after gaining admission would be taken on a trip to the United Arab Emirates.

This, he said, was to motivate them to maximise the opportunity of the free JAMB forms, which was followed with free intensive JAMB lectures through the Adewale Temitope Adedeji Educational Initiatives (ATA-EI).

He said, “Currently, we have over 46 outstanding students on scholarships in various tertiary institutions. Now, I am promising to give the top 50 students from the 1,500 beneficiaries of the ATA-EI free JAMB forms scholarships into various tertiary institutions of their choice.

“This is not to show off but to encourage you to embrace this opportunity wholeheartedly. You are the future of our Local Government, and we will do everything in our power to support you.

“In your midst, we have future governors, senators, ministers, honorable members, councillors, teachers, and the rest.

“So, I challenge you to go out there and make us all proud”.

Dr Kennedy Akudo, a senior lecturer, Mathematics Department, Lagos State University Of Education (LASUED), commended Hon Adewale Temitope for the gesture, especially the promise of scholarships for top 50 students from the 1,500 beneficiaries who gain admission into tertiary institutions.

He urged other lawmakers across the country to emulate his commitment to education and progress of their various constituencies.

Also speaking, the Tutor General and Permanent Secretary Education Distric 1, Adebowale Bashir, advised the students to shun vices and remain focused on the task ahead, which he said was to pass the JAMB exams and gain admission into tertiary institutions.

Since 2019 till date, Hon Adewale Temitope has given out over 4,000 free JAMB forms to indigent students.

Those present at the event included Dr Jide Johnson, a senior lecturer at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba (NIJ); Dr Victor Onifade, Leader, Ifako-Ijaiye Legislative House; Ifako-Ijaiye APC chairman, Banjo Omole; Hon. (Evang) Funke Olaleye, Assisant Financial Secretary, Lagos State APC; Oba-Elect, Iju Ogundinmu, Gbolahan Matthew; Councillors, and other political stakeholders.
