2 Min Read

Hollywood stars Amy Schumer and  Emily Ratajkowski were among up to a 100 women arrested at a protest against Supreme court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh.

The actress was at a #CancelKavanagh protest which is being held in a bid to stop the nomination process of Judge Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexually assaulting a woman with who he went to college with.

According to CNN footage, Schumer, Ratajkowski, and several other women were standing against an outside wall as a few police officers stood in front of them.

According to the CNN anchor, Schumer was being ‘arrested’

Ratajkowski on her part, took to Instagram to claim that she was “arrested protesting the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, a man who has been accused by multiple women of sexual assault,” adding “Men who hurt women can no longer be placed in positions of power. Kavanaugh’s confirmation as a Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States is a message to women in this country that they do not matter. I demand a government that acknowledges, respects and supports women as much as it does men.”

While Capitol Police have no record of the arrest of either star, there have been videos in which Schumer said she was being arrested including one filmed by one of the protester’s daughter in which she said: “I’m here with your mom. She loves you very much. I think we’re gonna get arrested, and we’re so proud of you.”

Schumer had also addressed protesters earlier in the day saying: “That’s what we’re going to do: We’re going to keep showing up and no matter how this goes, they cannot keep us down. We will win. A vote for Kavanaugh is a vote saying ‘Women don’t matter.’ Let’s stay together. Let’s fight. Let’s keep showing up,”
