Suspected Fulani Herdsmen wreaked havoc on the village of Governor Samuel Otorm in Benue State on Sunday morning, killing at least five persons.

The herdsmen invaded Tse-Apera in Nzorov, Guma local government area of Benue State in the wee hours of Sunday, attacking residents as they slept.

According to eye witness account, the assailants knocked on doors and attacked the occupants who answered, beheading at least one person.

A resident names Tseagba spoke about the attack saying,

The herdsmen were speaking Fulfude language and when they came, they knocked on the doors of people; as people came out to see who was knocking, they attacked them.

It was the cry of people that woke me up, and this made me to flee and hide in the bush until daybreak when we saw five dead people, one of them beheaded.

The local government Chairman, Caleb Aba, confirmed the incident but said only three people were killed, one of them separated from his head.
