Herdsmen savagely murder farmer In Delta State

2 Min Read

Suspected Fulani herdsmen have murdered a 50-year-old staff of the Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, Mr. Sunday Idama, at his cassava farmland in Ovre-Abraka community, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to Vanguard, Mr. Idama, married to three wives with 14 children, met his demise on Friday when he went to his farm to mount surveillance upon discovering that herdsmen were in the habit of uprooting his cassava and feeding their cows with them.

Unfortunately for him, he met the killer herdsmen at his farm that night and confronted them. However, they descended on him with machetes, cutting him on the hand, leg, face and all over his body until he passed away in agony.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Delta State Command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the gruesome murder of Idama, saying that they quickly evacuated Idama’s remains to Ufuoma Clinic in the area for autopsy and investigations.

He added that the perpetrators of the heinous crime would be brought to book once their identities were established, irrespective of their status.

Delta state has been besieged by armed Fulani herdsmen since last year, leading to several deaths and the loss of farmsteads and other properties.
