2 Min Read

The chairman of Ohaukwu local government area of Ebonyi state, Clement Odah, on Wednesday, December 18, slapped Chinedu Onah, member of the assembly.

The Herald gathered that hundreds of thousands of youths in the state on Thursday, December 19, reacted to the development.

The youths staged protests at the state government House with ply card written “Chinedu Onah, Don’t Allow Political Hartlot Use You In Ohaukwu LGA”.

The state House of Assembly immediately ordered the police to arrest and prosecute the council chairman. The House confirmed that Mr Odah allegedly assaulted Mr Onah in the committee room of the Assembly Complex located in Nkaliki, Ebonyi state.

Odah was reportedly angry that the House stopped the confirmation of four nominees for management committee members and Liaison officers during their screening at the Assembly.

Meanwhile, The Herald reported that Mrs Lilian Eziuloh, representing Afikpo North-East State Constituency in the Ebonyi House of Assembly, promised to tackle infrastructure deficit in her constituency through robust representation.

The legislator gave the assurance on Sunday at Mgbom in Afikpo North local government area of Ebonyi during a town hall meeting on service delivery in the area.

Eziuloh said that her priority was finding solutions to infrastructure challenges confronting the people in order to enhance their well being. She said that democracy thrived when people were given the opportunity to engage political leaders in dialogue and participate in determining how they are governed.

Ezillo, who responded to constituents’ demands including the absence of electricity supply, construction of rural roads, insecurity, herdsmen/farmers clashes, promised to liaise with relevant government authorities to address the challenges.
