Nigerians have taken to social media to express their reactions to the Super Eagles’ loss to the Albiceleste of Argentina which knocked Gernot Rohr’s team out of the World Cup.
Nigeria needed a draw to advance to the last-16 stage of the World Cup but were eliminated courtesy of a Marcos Rojo goal in the 87th minute of the tension-soaked game.

Hard to describe in words how that felt. It was an emotional rollercoaster. We gave everything against Argentina last night. I’m grateful and proud to have represented Nigeria and all Nigerians at this World Cup. But most of all I am humbled and thank God for bringing me this far pic.twitter.com/JpUnuvmpTb

There were over 66,000 people in that stadium. 65,500 were rooting for Argentina, which, by the way, has one of the greatest players OF ALL TIME. Impossible odds, but we went down fighting. That's why I cheered like a mad man, that's why I'm proud of the Super Eagles. #NGAARG

Great game @NGSuperEagles. The score line doesn’t fluctuate the position of our hearts. We won together, we lost together. We remain proud of you guys. #NGAARG

Your lands are desolate as the days go by. Children are being maimed. Passengers killed. Reprisal attacks everywhere. A win for Nigeria in the duel #NGAARG would have meant that all the dead would have been forgotten. Well, Nigeria lost. Now, refocus and take back your country.

It was a good distraction, and good to see us all on the same side, but now the World Cup is over for Nigeria. Let's go home and focus on our issues. Step 1: Do you have your PVC?
