Nigeria Labour Congress has said that all health workers in the country must ensure that the country maintains its polio-free status.
In a statement by NLC President, Mr. Ayuba Wabba, NLC said “The role of health workers, community and traditional rulers, and the continuing support of the federal, state and local government authorities are crucial here in ensuring that we meet the target of 2017; therefore, all must join hands to ensure that Nigeria remains polio-free.”
NLC also congratulated the leadership of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency for campaigning against Polio.
“In the same vein, the Congress salutes the leadership of the NPHCDA under Dr. Ado Muhammad, his team and partners for leading the pragmatic campaign against polio disease.
“We enjoin all Nigerians not to rest on their laurels as there is still the need for us to maintain vigilance in order to sustain the current position and increase the immunisation of children across the country,” the statement read.
