Health Minister Possibly On Self-isolation After Contact With Abba Kyari

3 Min Read

There are speculations that the health Minister, Dr Osagie Ehanire, may be on self-isolation amidst the coronavirus spread in the country.

The Herald gathered that the health Minister may have had contact with the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, who has tested positive to coronavirus on Monday.

According to a report by the PUNCH, Ehanire was said to have developed severe cough at a meeting on Sunday which bothered on containing the virus in Nigeria.

Reports also claim that the health Minister, who occasionally gave public updates on coronavirus, was absent on Wednesday at the receipt of the medical donation made by Chinese billionaire, Jack Ma, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

In his absence, the Permanent Secretary of the health ministry, Abdullahi Mashi, received the items on behalf of the Federal Government.

Ehanire, on Wednesday, also failed to give the usual press briefing on coronavirus.

However, the status of his health is yet to be ascertained.

The Chief of Staff to the president, Abba Kyari, has been moved to the isolation center in Gwagwalada, Abuja, to commence treatment.

Reports claim that the chief of staff arrived at the isolation center located at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Gwagwalada, an outskirts of the Federal Capital Territory hours after he tested positive to coronavirus.

It was rumoured that one of the ventilators in the facility at Gwagwalada was moved to Aso Rock for the treatment of Buhari’s right hand man, however in a report gathered by Daily Sun, the news was false.

A source who spoke to Daily Sun said:

“I can confirm that as of this evening (Tuesday) no ventilator was moved. Both of them are intact. One is located at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital and the other one is at the Isolation centre. Both of them are there.”
