The vice presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, has explained his reason for parting ways with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Buhari and Baba-Ahmed were both chieftains of the defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC), under which platform the latter was elected to represent Kaduna North Senatorial District in 2011.
Buhari also contested for the presidency under the CPC platform but lost.

Speaking in Kano over the weekend, Baba-Ahmed said he stopped following Buhari due to an ideology change.
He said that Buhari has since lost the principles which attracted a lot of people to him.
“Over time, President Buhari lost his principles and bearings, the situation made it difficult for allies like myself to abide by his political philosophy and ideas,” the LP vice presidential candidate said.
He assured that the LP was gradually making in-roads and gaining popularity in the north.
The businessman-turned-politician assured that the north would vote for the LP in the 2023 general election.
