The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the indefinite postponement of the 2023 Population and Housing Census.
Recall that the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had disclosed that the census, earlier scheduled for 3-7 May 2023, has been postponed to a date to be determined by the incoming administration.
Reacting in a tweet, Ortom said that the president listened to the “voice of reason”.
According to him, it would have been an injustice to millions of Nigerians.
“I commend President Muhammadu Buhari for listening to the voice of reason and directing that the 2023 National Population Census be postponed.
“A census at this time would’ve been injustice to millions of Nigerians who have been displaced and are in IDP camps across the country,”
