Nigerian music artist Harrysong has taken to social media (X), to implore fans, colleagues, and the public to support him in seeking justice from his former colleague and boss, Kingsley Okonkwo, widely known as Kcee. The plea centers around financial disputes and the prolonged withholding of Harrysong’s songs, which Kcee allegedly controls.
For over seven years, Harrysong claims that Kcee has been collecting 100 percent of his royalties from hit tracks such as “Reggae Blues,” “Baba for the Girls,” “Samankwe,” “Better Pikin,” and “Ofeshe” – all significant successes in the artist’s career. In the emotional post, Harrysong laments the unfair distribution of earnings, emphasizing that it is time for him to receive his rightful share.
The artist goes on to express his frustration, asserting that he initially approached the situation with humility and appeals but to no avail. Harrysong alleges that Kcee has consistently exerted dominance, prompting this public call for fairness and justice. He beseeches the public to intervene, emphasizing that these songs are his intellectual property, and he deserves to receive what rightfully belongs to him.
Harrysong acknowledges the power dynamics at play, referring to Kcee as the “power mike” and anticipating potential resistance. However, he remains steadfast in his plea, urging everyone to join him in seeking fairness and equity in the distribution of royalties.
