Of course, it is important to get a good night’s sleep but many times, we might find ourselves in situations where we can’t seem to. The hot temperature is one leading factor that affects good sleep constantly tossing and turning all through the night and before we know it, its morning already.

Losing sleep is associated with a lot of negative effects. It affects brain function and the individual’s cognitive performance drops. He or she starts to have trouble focusing on a task and memory suffers. Naturally, the body tries to recover the lost sleep and this, most often than never, results in a situation where we start sleeping at the expense of our daily activities. Hence, a reduction in productivity.

Studies have indeed shown that the human body is likely to get better and more improved sleep in an atmosphere that is cool. This is why we find ourselves sleeping for longer during the cold weather.

In occasions where the weather is exceptionally hot and there is power shortage or we can’t leave the air conditioning running throughout the night, it is best to create an atmosphere conducive for rest. Luckily, this can be achieved with a few methods.

  • Stay closer to the ground

The ground is discovered to be cooler than other areas. Put your mattress on the floor. Doing that is certainly an effective way to feel less heat. Also, temperature increases as we go higher in a room – therefore staying closer to the ground means a reduced temperature.

  • Turn on the fan

Getting worked up over the weather condition is not a great thing to do. Don’t worry too much about how you might not get enough sleep. This mindset will only worsen the situation. Instead, free your mind and relax your head.

  • Allow for proper ventilation

The increased temperature in your room might just be because of poor ventilation. Allow the breeze to blow from every side possible. Roll up the curtains and window blinds. Make sure to open you open your windows an hour or 30 minutes before going to sleep.

  • Block the entrance of hot air

During the day, it is advised that you keep your windows shut and curtains down. This is because the weather temperature is usually higher during the day than at night. However, don’t forget to open them up in the evening time.
