Handcuffs On Metuh Wicked, Vindictive – PDP Acting Chair

2 Min Read
Former PDP Chairman, Chief Uche Secondus

As reactions continue to trail the decision of the Federal Government of Nigeria to bring National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh, to court in handcuffs, the party’s acting National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, has described the practice as “wicked and vindictive”.

While affirming the party’s stance that corrupt politicians should be brought to justice, he said it was unconscionable that only members of the opposition were being branded as corrupt, while some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) who have been fingered in corruption cases were walking free.

According to Secondus, some of the 55 individuals identified by the FG as having stolen N1.34 trillion from the national coffers were presently in the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking on the war on corruption, the party chairman stated: “This involves both APC and PDP. Those involved are still in the government of Muhammadu Buhari, serving as ministers, some holding ranking positions even in security agencies.

“He should bring them to book; we are not against his fight against corruption, but it should be holistic and there must be Rule of Law.

“Look at the handcuffs on PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh. It is wicked and vindictive. Nigerians should see what is happening in a democracy because Metuh is the spokesperson of opposition party.

“Now, no one can speak freely. We are operating under threat and a Police state; our families now live under threat and they are being asked questions at the airport.”
