A woman who admitted stealing a police car and leading policemen on a 10-mile chase at speed of 80mph while her hands were cuffed at the back faces up to eight years in prison, her defence attorney told the Associated Press.
Roxanne Rimer, 28, of Chippewa Township, Western Pennsylvania, USA, was initially arrested for shoplifting and cuffed by police, who also placed her in the backseat of their vehicle.
Bur she climbed into the front seat using an unlatched opening and stole the police cruiser when officers were not with her.
A hot pursuit ensued, and she was able to weave through traffic for up to ten miles until she crashed, while her hands were still cuffed behind her.
She also pleaded guilty to another charge of theft, at a court hearing on Tuesday and has been sentenced to four to eight years in prison, her defence attorney Steven Valsamidis said.
