Hacked female celebrities sue Google for $100 million

2 Min Read

Aftermath of what was believed to be the biggest leak ever in the line of celebrity nude photos, where private photos of over 20 female celebrities including Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Megan Good and Jennifer Lawrence were leaked, someone has got to take the blame, willingly or not.

According to  TMZ, a vast majority of the hacked celebrities are suing technology giants Google for reportedly allowing the photos remain on the internet.

The names of the celebrities involve in the lawsuit was not revealed but a total of 100 million dollars is being requested from Google.

Marty Singer, a top Hollywood attorney who has worked with Kim Kardashian, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt sent a letter to Google on behalf on the hack victims.

The letter read: “Because the victims are celebrities with valuable publicity rights, you do nothing — nothing but collect millions of dollars in advertising revenue from your co-conspirator advertising partners as you seek to capitalize on this scandal rather than quash it. Like the NFL, which turned a blind eye while its players assaulted and victimized women and children, Google has turned a blind eye while its sites repeatedly exploit and victimize these women.”

Threatened by the lawsuit, a spokesperson for the internet giants, in a statement released on Thursday said: “We’ve removed tens of thousands of pictures, within hours of the requests being made, and we have closed hundreds of accounts.

“The Internet is used for many good things. Stealing people’sprivate photos is not one of them.”
