Unknown hoodlums have reportedly gunned down a Special Assistant to Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Youth Development, Mr Lawrence Akpomiemie.
Akpomiemie was shot dead at 10pm by gunmen in the Ekpan community in the Uvwie Local Government Area of the state on Friday.
Uvwie has lately been under political crisis between supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress, which has led to the death of about 10 persons, with score others injured.

It was gathered that deceased was ambushed by arms-wielding youths while returning from an outing with a lady suspected to be his girlfriend. It was also learnt that the lady survived the attack.
Preliminary investigations revealed the Akpomiemie’s murder is not unconnected to the lingering political crisis in Ekpan between supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress.
The deceased and his followers are said to be staunch supporters of the state governor and the ruling PDP in the state.
According to security officials, he was shot in the chest and on the forehead repeatedly.
Confirming the development, the Chairman of Uvwie LGA, Mr Ramson Onoyake, confirmed the killing, adding that “The police have started investigating the matter.”
Acting spokesman for the Delta State Police Command, Mr Chuks Oresewezie, also confirmed the incident.
