The former Special Adviser on Political Matters to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Ahmed Gulak, has declared himself the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Gulak made the announcement inside the National Working Committee (NWC) Hall at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday, January 27.
He stormed the Wadata complex in the Wuse Zone 5 area of Abuja with a large contingent of fully armed policemen.
Gulak who was sacked by Jonathan on April 29, 2014 unceremoniously have been battling the Uche Secondus National Working Committee and had dragged them to court.
He said it became imperative for him to take over the leadership of the party following the court order of December 16, 2015, which asked the party to name someone from the North-East to replace the former chairman of the party, Adamu Mu’azu.
Gulak spoke in company of his loyalists, which includes- former Special Assistant to Ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe and a former Commissioner in Bayelsa State, Ayakeme Whisky.
The PDP chieftain stated that the opposition party’s NWC must work with him in order to move the party forward.
