Guardiola faces tough test as Man City face Arsenal

2 Min Read

Manchester City will host Arsenal late afternoon today at the Etihad in a match that may prove decisive for Pep Guardiola’s job with City.

The Etihad side started the season on a perfect note with wins in the first five matches and pundits quickly picked them as favourites. Pep Guardiola seemed to be the messiah that would bring the goodies to Etihad.

However, their fortune has changed with a string of loses and draws and Guardiola doesn’t seem too sure of himself anymore.

With just one week to Christmas and two weeks to the New Year, the Citizens find themselves at the fourth position on the table, ten points behind leaders Chelsea and just three points ahead of Totenham.

They will be facing a 3rd position Arsenal side that has shown good character but is still finding that perfect stability. Both teams want to win so as to have a good chance of fighting Chelsea for the trophy.

These are indeed difficult times for Manchester City. They will be without mid fielder, Ike Gundogan as he is out on injury. Talented striker, Sergio Aguero and key central midfielder, Fernandinho will also be absent as they are on suspension.

Arsenal has no fresh injury concerns.

The Gunners will be looking to bounce back following a 2-1 defeat at Everton on Tuesday night, although Arsene Wenger has none of his injured players back.
