Group Urges Wike to Convince Tinubu to Join PDP

PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress, has called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to persuade President Bola Tinubu to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The group believes that this move would demonstrate Wike’s unwavering loyalty to the PDP.

The group’s national coordinator, Emeka Ikpegbu, made this statement in Umuahia on Tuesday while responding to comments attributed to Wike, in which he allegedly criticized the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Adolphus Wabara, for praising Abia State Governor, Alex Otti’s achievements.

Ikpegbu argued that Wabara committed no offense by attempting to woo Governor Otti to the PDP and challenged Wike to similarly convince President Tinubu to join the party. “Wike should first bring his principal, President Bola Tinubu, who he praises every day, to the PDP before preaching to us about anti-party activities,” Ikpegbu stated.

He further questioned Wike’s position, saying, “Is there any anti-party activity worse than a former governor and presidential aspirant in the PDP serving as a minister under the APC? How many times has Wike publicly praised President Tinubu, yet nobody has sanctioned him for anti-party activities. Why is he now lecturing us on how to sanction members for anti-party activities?”

The group also commended the PDP governors and the party’s BoT for their firm stance in the Rivers State political crisis and for affirming Sunday Ude-Okoye as the party’s National Secretary based on the Enugu Court of Appeal judgment. They predicted a brighter future for the PDP in 2027 and urged party members to resist any attempts to intimidate those striving to rescue and reposition the party.
