Govt. to reward exceptional talents at One Lagos Fiesta, says Commissioner

3 Min Read

The Lagos State Government on Thursday said it would reward youths with exceptional talents in music, dance, comedy and other creative stunts at this year’s edition of One Lagos Fiesta (OLF).
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Steve Ayorinde, made this known at a news conference at the State House in Alausa.
“If you are talented in any of these areas and you are looking for a platform to showcase your skills and begin a rewarding journey to stardom, then this year’s OLF is the platform you need,’’ Ayorinde said.
He said that the fiesta, which would run from Dec. 24 to Dec. 31, would entertain 20 million residents for 500 hours in Agege, Ikorodu, Epe, Badagry and Victoria Island Bar beach to usher in the New Year.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the OLF is a carnival- like gathering with lots of activities held at five different locations simultaneously across the state.
Ayorinde said that auditions for the talent hunt would hold simultaneously in all the five locations for those who either applied online – www.onelagosfiesta.ng or on site.
“It is expected that between 50 and 100 enterprising youths will emerge from this exercise from each of the zones.
“They will all have an opportunity to perform at the OLF stage in each location between Dec. 24 and Dec. 30.
“Only two finalists will emerge from each zone for the final showdown in Victoria Island on Dec. 31, “Ayorinde said.
The commissioner said all these were geared toward reducing restiveness among residents, especially youths, during the Yuletide.
He said that the talent hunt would also help to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the state to the world to attract investors.
Ayorinde assured that that the fiesta would fulfill its traditional obligation of ending the year on an entertaining note, and usher in the New Year with fun and fanfare.

On her part, the Special Adviser to Gov. Ambode on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Bimpe Akinsola, assured residents of adequate security of lives and property.
She also said adequate transport arrangement would be made to ensure free vehicular movement during the period.(NAN)
