The Tanzanian Government has placed a ban on importation, manufacture, distribution and use of alcohol contained in plastic bags.
The latest development was made known by the country’s Minister of Environment, Jan Makamba who disclosed that the ban on alcohol contained in plastic bags take effect as from Thursday, March 2, 2017.
The latest decision by the Tanzanian Government is in line with cutting off businessmen who make huge profits from the sale of the readily available alcohol and also to reduce careless consumption among youths.
Recall that the Tanzanian president, John Magufuli had promised that the law will come into effect fully in 2017.
The Tanazanian president’s decision to ban sachet alcohol comes in line with the enactment of the laws in several other countries including Ivory Coast, Senegal, Malawi and Rwanda.
