The Governor Of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, celebrated his birthday, on Friday, where all COVID-19 regulations were disregarded.
The Herald gathered that during the 53rd birthday celebrations, safety protocols, like the use of face masks and social distancing, were completely ignored.
The birthday celebration organised for Makinde, at Saki, was duly attended by the Governor.
Due to a sharp increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 in the Nigeria over the last few days, the Federal, state and local governments in the country began to put in place safety precautions in a bid to check the spread of the virus.
This development forced the Nigerian government to hand down new COVID-19 recommendations to all states.

These recommendations included the shutting down of schools and academic activities for the next five weeks, as well as a ban on any public or private gathering which exceeds 50 persons.
Only recently, Governor Makinde had urged citizens on the strict adherence to laid down COVID-19 guidelines.
He made this known in his Christmas message to residents in the state.
“Some of such daunting challenges include the COVID-19-induced recession and the pandemic itself, which experts said has entered its second wave.
“Let me also use this opportunity to warn everyone as they go about celebrating Christmas; please continue to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 guidelines and continue to #OwnYourAction,” Makinde said.
The news of the Governor’s violations of the health guidelines, therefore, comes as a shock to many.
