Governor Umaru al-Makura of Nasarawa State, on Friday, paid N700,000 hospital bill for two cancer patients.
Al-Makura paid the N400,000 hospital bill for a two-year-old girl, Dowese Tyengo, who has tumour of the eye before she was diagnosed with cancer at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi.
Making the donation, al-Makura said he was touched by the plight of the little girl when he saw her picture and decided to defray the hospital bill.
Receiving the cash on behalf of the parents of the patient, Pastor Telumun Vaatia thanked the governor for the gesture and prayed God to reward him abundantly.
According to the NAN,al-Makura also settled N300,000 hospital bill for one Rukaiya Mohammed, whose one leg was amputated and needed money to undergo operation in ABU Teaching Hospital, Zaria, to prevent the loss of the other leg.
Represented by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Ahmed Tukur, the governor said he heard the announcement on radio and decided to pay the bill in order to save Mohammed’s second leg.
