Gospel Artiste Fakes Own Death To Gauge Popularity

1 Min Read

Onyong Yubu, stage name ‘Prince Yubu’, a 23-year-old gospel artist, reportedly faked his death on social media platforms to gauge his popularity.

Yubu pronounced himself dead in a message on Wednesday, February 7, allegedly after “short malaria illness.”

“Let us pray for Prince Yubu, a gospel artiste, who passed away in hospital. He had severe malaria. He died 20 minutes ago.”

However suspicious local media reporters went to investigate and found Yubu alive. When asked why he faked his own death Yubu claimed that he had been abducted by some people who sent the messages out with his phone.

“They tied me up with ropes and took away my cell phone, which they used to send out messages announcing I was dead.”

An operations manager at a radio station Patrick Akena Ogwal, operation manager responded that Yubu faked his own death just to see how popular he was on social media.

“What many don’t know yet about Prince Yubu is that he is very cunning.

He could have put that thing up to gauge people’s perception about him and his popularity,” Ogwal argued.
