Google is to combine Hangout meet, Hangout chat, with other key components of the G Suite (Google business apps) into one unified communication app.
According to The Information, Google is reportedly developing a new mobile unified communication app that is designed specifically for business users.
Dubbed Google Mobile app for business, it will combine several of the search giant stand-alone applications and technologies to form a unified app.
The new communications app will combine the company’s video conferencing Hangouts meet, with its instant messaging app and Hangouts chat.
The app also includes functionality for Gmail for communication over emails as well as Google’s cloud storage service Google Drive.
The reports say that the app is currently undergoing testing at Google and people familiar with the matter said that Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian gave details regarding the app at a conference earlier this month with Google Cloud team members and business partners.
The information further reports about the new app as part of Google’s G Suite of productivity software.
The app is Google’s answer to Microsoft and Slack who are already established in the unified communication market.
Google G Suite for business already includes our precious Gmail, Docs, Calendar, Meet, and Drive. So, other ways for businesses to communicate and interact will only boost productivity as users will be able to do more within a single app.
it is noteworthy that Google G Suite is not free. Last year the company raised the prices for the G Suite for the first time for business users though with the company kept the cost of his Enterprise the same.
